Social Accountability
Alongside business development, which remains the core focus of any company's mission, it is increasingly evident that companies are committed to improving their sustainability performance, with this pervading all corporate processes.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to "the voluntary integration by companies of social and environmental concerns in their operations" (Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policies).
This approach includes ethically responsible business conduct and the creation of long-lasting employment including through a new model of corporate governance, which must look at human and social capital and local communities as a form of sustainable investment. This also includes the topics of gender equality, diversity, inclusion and the reduction of inequality which also form part of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (Goals 5 and 10).
